According to the current regulation here, foreigners are allowed to lease a HDB unit for a period of at least 6 months. Thus, it is possible for you to do so.
However, depending on the area you're looking at, there are non-citizen quota which must be adhered.
Proper planning and shortlisting of HDB properties prior to your stay in Singapore will be required to ensure that your transition process is smooth.
