Hi. If I'm a Singaporean staying overseas, past 35 year old, single, am I allow to buy a resale flat under Singles scheme with CPF housing grant? HDB states a MOP term requiring 5 years occupancy stay. Have there been cases where HDB waive MOP and allow owner who is staying overseas to NOT stay in the purchase HDB flat for 5 years and allow the owner to sublet his entire flat to tenant?

Afternoon CL,

You are allow to purchase resale flat, as you have hit 35 y/o. As for the grant, if you does not exceed the income ceiling, you will be eligible to it. The main concern now would be to get your HLE approved, and the rest can be arranged.
Owners who are working overseas can apply to sublet the whole unit, from HDB, with documentation proof from company that they are working for.
However, all are subjected to approval, so it's good to proceed step by step.
