Hi,

If I buy a HDB resale under the singles scheme, and at a later stage get married to a foreigner (who's not an SPR), can my husband to be still own/buy a property in his home country?

I've called HDB about this, their ans seems to differ from some of the Q&As posted on this site.

HDB says -
1) as soon as i get married, it is COMPULSORY that I include my husband as a occupant at the very least.
2) If he should own a property in his country prior to our marriage, there is no need for him to dispose it after marriage.
3) But if he intends to buy a prop in his home country after we get married (as he'll be based there for at least the next 4 yrs), he is not allowed to. He can only rent...

Are all 3 pointers above accurate?

Afternoon Tina,

Note that HDB's response is to add your spouse to be as occupier, not owner. As long as he do not own a HDB unit within SG, he do not need to sell off his private properties overseas. But the issues that puzzles me, if he's not the owner of your HDB unit, why can't he buy properties outside SG after marriage?
