Hi, If I add my name and become the 3rd joint owner of the BTO HDB unit which was bought by my parents 20 years ago so that I can use my cpf to pay for the installment and subsequently withdraw so that I can apply a BTO on my own with my boyfriend, do I have to pay a resale levy since my parent's house will not be sold? Thanks

Afternoon, Since you have used your name as the joint owner for the current HDB unit, which was a BTO unit, you will be considered as being a first time buyer. By withdrawing your name, your parents are required to return the amount of CPF that you have utilized, including interest payable. To apply for your new BTO unit, you will be considered as second timer, even if your spouse have not applied for BTO before. FYI Mike Lim 96929209  m52i@yahoo.com ERA Read More
