Of course you are eligible to purchase a HDB first and just required to sell off your private property within 6 months from completion date.

But in order to do so, you must have ready funds to carry this out.

Yes you can source for a HDB first before selling your condo. Of course there will also be other concerns such as whether your current condo still have any loan and such. All this will affect the way we can plan our finances. There will definitely be things to be discussed on this.

What I would really suggest is to do both the selling and buying together so that we can aim to have a smooth transition from the condo to the HDB. Timeline will be an essence as the transaction timelines between condo and HDBs are different. So we will need to map that out also.
