Good afternoon Carol,

both of you must be SPR for at least 3 years individually and form a family nucleus in order to purchase a resale HDB.

Even your husband will be the sole owner, you have to be essential occupier to proceed with purchase therefore you still have to dispose off the interest in your overseas property within 6 months from purchase completion date.

If disposal of overseas property is your concern, will you guys consider private property instead?

As both of you are married, thus both of your name would need to be included in the ownership of the HDB flat and also you would have to dispose off your overseas property after that.

Hi Carol,

1) Both of you must have reached 3 yrs of holding as SPR before eligible to buy a resale HDB.
2) Your plan to let only your husband be the sole owner so that you could keep your overseas property.
3) Unfortunately this plan cannot work out because you are the essential occupier of the HDB even though you are not the owner.
4) Thus you also cannot keep any private residential property locally or overseas.
5) If you have family staying in the overseas property, and they are not in a position to take over your ownership. You may appeal to the HDB to keep the property.
6) Otherwise, you will have to dispose of your ownership within 6 months upon key collection of the HDB flat.

Hi Carol,

Have both of you met the 3 years mark as SPR in order to be eligible to purchase a resale HDB? You will still be required to dispose your ownership of your overseas property within 6 months from purchasing the resale HDB as you will be considered the essential occupier for this resale HDB minimally if not a co-owner, and both of you will still be required to observe a 5 years minimum occupation period.

Hi Carol,

For SPR/SPR family nucleus to be eligible to purchase a resale HDB flat, both of you will need to be SPR for at least 3 years.

Secondly, should you be eligible and purchased a HDB resale flat, both you and your husband will be required to dispose off all properties (local and overseas) latest within 6 months of the HDB flat purchase. It doesn't matter whether you're the sole owner or an essential occupier.
