Hi, I want to sell my 3 room HDB flat and buy 5rm flat. I would like to know how much hdb loan will I get if you consider my scenario. a) I will have cash profit of $200,00 for selling b) getting 2nd HDB loan and got HLE approved at $400,000 c) 5rm flat hdb valuation is expected to be around $650,000 I heard that I need to place 50% of my cash profit to reduce the HDB loan. That means, my HDB loan will be reduced from $400,00 to $300,000 and I need to pay $350,000 in CPF or cash to purchase the 5rm flat if I am at value? I intend to do contra. Kindly advise me.

Hi Steven, The amount of your second HDB loan will be determined by how much CPF OA funds you have plus those refunded back from the disposal of your current unit and amount of sales proceeds you can use (determined by HDB). Unless you have around $250k CPF OA (current + refunded) and HDB allows you to use up to 50% of the cash proceeds (according to your assumption of $200k cash proceeds) then your HDB loan should be about $300k (assuming you purchase the resale 5RM flat at valuation). Probably you can share more information about your property needs with me so I can advise you further. Hope to hear from you soon!
