Hi

I understand that if I have an overseas property, in order to buy bto, I need to sell away foreign property and wait for 30months before I can buy Bto.

Qn1: is the above understanding correct?

I am SPR with Malaysia property. Planing to convert to singapore citizen.

Qn2: if qn1 is correct understanding, can I avoid the 30 months waiting time by selling away the foreign property before converting ?

Hi,

Unfortunately no, as long as you are holding on to local or overseas private property ownership, you need to wait out 30 months after selling before you can apply new BTO. It can't be avoided as its a requirement for BTO purchase.

Good evening,

The 30 months waiting period will still apply unless you are purchasing a resale HDB.

Alternatively if you wish to keep your overseas property, you can consider dipping into private property instead.

Hope my sharing aids in clearing your doubts.
