Hi,

I'm afraid that your understanding is incorrect. You can buy a HDB resale flat even if you currently own a private property (local and overseas). You just need to dispose the property within 6 months of the HDB flat purchase. There is no 30-month wait out period for resale flats.

In order to be eligible for CPF Housing Grants and EHG, you will need to meet all the eligibility conditions, one of which is not having own a private property for the past 30 months. You can however apply for Proximity Housing Grant if you purchase a flat that is within 4km to your parents' place of residence.

Hi,

1) I think you have some misunderstanding about the HDB policy.
2) You can buy a resale flat even before dispose of your overseas property. This property is referring to a residential property. You may keep it if this is industrial or commercial property.
3) You will be given 6 months to dispose it of upon key collection of your HDB flat.
4) However, you will not be eligible for HDB loan (HLE) and family & EHG grant. You may be eligible for a proximity grant though because only this grant is not under the same requirement as other grants.
5) In order to be eligible for the family & EHG grant and HDB loan (HLE). You are not allowed to hold any residential property (local & overseas) for the past 30 months.
6) Hope the above clarify all your doubts on the overseas property and where you got this 30 months period.
