Hi, I signed a 1 year contract in January 2014 for renting HDB. Now I am planning to move away from contract. I have heard that if i serve 2 months notice, i am allowed to break the contract with deposit refund. Can someone let me know?

Read your tenancy agreement. It should state the compensation terms and conditions for premature termination of tenancy agreement.
