Hi Sir/Mdm,
If you were to purchase a resale EC, then you will not be able to ballot for the new EC next year because resale EC is considered as a private property and to be eligible for a new EC, you will need to sell the private property and wait out a 30 months period before you are eligible to ballot.
If your plan is to purchase a new EC as a 2nd timer, then I would suggest you not selling the BTO yet and if you managed to get a new EC, sell only when the new EC is ready.
