Hi! I recently purchase a resale flat and during our application stage, we agreed to give the sellers the temporary extension of stay as they mentioned that they needed it. However, we found out after the completion date that HDB did not grant them the extension of stay. This was not communicated to us, even on the completion day appointment. Can we understand if they current stay is legal, and who can we reach out to for help in taking back our property?

Extension of stay will only be approved if the sellers have committed to a purchase of another property. A copy of the OTP or Sales & Purchase Agreement needs to be furnished.

You can write by emailing to hdbresale@mailbox.hdb.gov.sg to confirm that the sellers application for the extension was not approved. Then proceed to inform the sellers vacate.

If you log in to the resale portal, you will be able to see at the bottom of the page the HDB officer in charge for your case.
You will need to email directly to them. They will provide you with a form for you to fill up manually and then submit to them. They will be a $20 admin charge. Normally although buyers pay as they are the new owners, seller will reimburse to the new owners. Hope this useful.. Let me know if you need anything else..
