Is your HDB flat 3 bedroom or more? If so, then you may let your mum stay there and rent out one room.

Your mum's HDB must also have fulfilled the 5 year MOP. (For resale flats bought before 30 Aug 2010, the minimum occupation period is 3 years)

Since you have fulfilled your MOP and being SC, you will be eligible to rent out the common room during your absence. It would be fine for your mother to stay at your place. But if your mother's unit have not fulfill her MOP, then it will be something that's worth considering.

Once you have fulfilled your MOP, and have good reasons, you can apply to HDB to lease out your entire unit.

You can only let your mother move in, and/or lease out hers, assuming she has also fulfilled her MOP.

There are many options open to you.
