Evening Teck Min,

To sell away your HDB unit that have fulfilled MOP and taking over your father's unit will result in the need to sell away your private property. This is due to the requirement to fulfill MOP on the "new" unit. It's therefore more logical to sell away your father's unit and invest on something else.

Dear Teck Min,

If you take over your dad flat, it will consider as a “newly purchase” flat. Therefore, you need to dispose your condo within 6 months, and wait for another 5 years before you can invest in another condo.

It will make more sense if you dispose your dad now.
