Hi, I have obtained the PR status recently and looking to buy HDB resale property or executive condo. Please advise if there any time limit applies to both cases before purchasing.

Hi R. Shasi,

Unless your spouse is a Singaporean, you will be eligible to purchase a resale HDB with her. If both of you are SPR, you need to be SPR for at least 3 years first to be eligible.

Same things goes for new EC, no issue if Singaporean spouse. If not, you have to opt for resale EC or private.

To buy a new EC, you need a Singaporean spouse. To buy HDB Resale, both SPR need to meet the 3 years timeline to be eligible.

Hi Mr. Shasi,

1) HDB resale: You will need SPR couple who hold the same (PR) status for a minimum of 3 yrs before eligible.
2) New EC: Need at least a Singapore Citizen (SC) forming a family nucleus in order to be eligible.
3) Resale EC: You are eligible to purchase with single SPR for those resale EC which had been 5 yrs or older in resale market.

Hi Shasi,

Congratulations on attaining your PR!

In order to be eligible to purchase a HDB flat, both you and your spouse will have to be PR for at least 3 years.

To apply for new EC, at least one applicant will have to be a Singaporean Citizen.

You can however look into resale ECs that has met the 5-year MOP, or private condominiums.

Before that, you might want to check with a Banker on your loan eligibility, so as to work out a comfortable budget for your purchase.
