Hi, I have a HDB flat which I stayed with my parents and brother before getting married. I am the owner. I bought a condo with my wife when we got married and have been staying in the condo. My parents have since passed away and my brother is getting his own HDB. Will I be able to sell my HDB and buy a resale HDB if I want to keep my condo? We are Singaporeans and have stayed in both HDB and condo for more than 10 years.

Hi,

Unfortunately no, once you sold off your current hdb and purchase the next resale hdb, you have to sell off the current condo as its part of the regulation. It may not be the best move in doing so. Perhaps we could discuss how best to restructure the property portfolio based on your requirements?

You will be required to dispose your condo within 6 months from taking possession of the resale HDB you are planning to purchase after the sale of the existing HDB.

Dear Sir,

Pertaining to your question, unfortunately after you sell away your HDB, you will not be able to purchase another HDB and still keep your condo. If you really purchase another HDB, then you will have to dispose off your condo within 6 months of key collection or completion. From my experience, I will also not encourage you to do so.

What I will suggest is that we can meet up for a chat and we can see what is the best way to restructure your property portfolio. We can do some financial calculations and planning and we can explore some ways to see if we can reduce the amount of money that we need to pay in the restructuring. No worries there are no obligations at all and we can just take it as a chat.

I have been in this business for a decade and together with my partner, we have helped many with their portfolio restructuring and also asset progressions. We have also successfully upgraded our clients who stayed in a humble EC into a 999 year leasehold landed property with a private lift inside through a 8 years plan. Being a trainer myself to other property agents in this discipline, I believe I will have some good advice to share with you. Many possibilities hides within good foresight and detailed plannings.

If you were to sell your HDB resale flat and buy another HDB resale flat, you will be required to sell your condominium with 6 months after acquiring of 2nd HDB resale flat.

Dear Sir,

You will not be able to purchase another HDB flat once you sell the current one as under current rules and regulations, you are required to dispose off your condo within 6 months of purchasing a HDB flat.

You may want to consider selling off this current HDB, decouple from the condo, and buy another private property so that you can rent it out for a passive stream of income.

Hi Sir,

If you sell your current HDB flat, and then purchase another HDB resale flat, you will be required to sell off your condo within 6 months of your HDB flat purchase. Should your wife also own other properties under her name, she will also be required to sell off those properties too.
