Hi, I bought new flat at Fernvale 2 yrs ago, the house is already completed and HDB just sent me a letter to collect the key but i plan to sell my house just the week after the chinese new year holiday. As this house is my 3rd house, i have paid up whatever amount i need to pay in cash and just need the cpf refund from the sale of current flat to the new flat. Is there any ways which i can collect the keys earlier so that i can start on renovation before completion of the sale of current flat?

Hi Jerlyn,

If you require the CPF to be returned from selling your existing house in order to fund the new house, you'll have to sell away your existing house prior to collecting the keys for your new place, otherwise you'll have up to 6 months to do so after keys collection.

I believe the key concern here will be the window period which you'll require renovation to be done prior to move in and selling away your existing house to match as well as necessary fundings to be available for the completion of your new place. Correct me if I am wrong. I believe you'll need to talk to HDB on these questions. Probably, you may also talk to a banker to see if they have any solution suitable for you in this situation.

Should you require any assistance in selling your existing place, feel free to contact me. Thank you.

Wishing you a prosperous lunar new year ahead.
