Dear Nancy, Based on assumption that both your and your husband have fulfilled the 3 year residency period and have no issues in obtaining a housing loan, $80,000 for downpayment excluding the consideration of miscellaneous fees like valuation, resale application, legal fees, stamp duty and service fees for salesperson, your can be looking at a $400k purchase price. $400k will probably allow you to look at 3room flat in a relatively good location, since $80k is your 20% downpayment. As most of my fellow professionals have mentioned, it is important to do your loan assessment prior to jumping into househunting process in order to avoid disappointment of finding a unit you like but unable to secure the right loan for the unit.
