Dear prospective seller and buyer,
If it is in your perspective that the $16k-$18k is easy money to be made from you for assisting you in selling and purchasing a property, I would strongly encourage you to join this industry of making easy money.
In times where real estate prices are weak, would it not be in your interest to engage someone who knows the market inside out and has the necessary skills and knowledge as well as strategy to market your place for premium instead of doing it yourself, where you may not have half the skills set required to achieve that feat? Such a difference could easily erode your selling price by $20-$30k inclusive of opportunities costs and time. In such $20k-$30k more in selling price achieved over the $16k-$18k commission estimated to be payable, which makes more sense? Furthermore, commission is only payable when there is a transaction being brokered. Otherwise it will be ZERO income for the salesperson but they would have incurred marketing costs.
I uphold my rate of service fees because I strongly believe in what I am doing as proficient and value adding, therefore I will not take my income as a bargaining chip to clinch deals just like you will not accept a job with a lower salary for doing the same functions.
