Hi I am new SC and my husband is PR. We wish to buy resale home, however my husband has a property for parents to stay. Is that eligible to buy HDB resell and if to appeal hdb which stage should we start it?

Hi,

If your husband's property is a private property, he will need to sell off and wait out 15 months before he is eligible to apply resale HDB with you. You cannot purchase resale HDB on your sole name though. If not, you may also pool funds to purchase private property under your sole name, and can purchase immediately.

Dear madam,

If you husband has a property in his name overseas, then both of you will be ineligible to purchase a HDB. Your husband will be required to relinquish his ownership in that property, wait out for a period of 15 months before both of you are eligible to purchase a resale HDB, unless both of you are 55 years old or above, then you will be eligible to purchase a resale 4 room flat or smaller.

You should look into appealing for approval to purchase the resale HDB now and can look into writing in to HDB to appeal. Where needed, you may wish to visit your MP for their assistance.
