Hi, I am currently renting a HDB flat with about 7 more months of tenancy remaining.

I have been renting this flat for the past 2 years. This is my 3rd year. It is a nice neighbourhood and peaceful. However, recently, there is a new neighbour who moved in, and unfortunately they are disrupting the peace by smoking and noise such as coughing in wee hours and early morning where many of us are asleep. It doesn’t help when our bedroom are along the common corridor. May I ask if the landlord has the liability to resolve this for us, I.e. to keep the peace or seek HDB help. If unresolved, is it possible to terminate the TA since the notice period is a month. My family and myself are really losing sleep since this new inconsiderate neighbour moved in 2 months ago.

As of now, I have yet to notify the landlord and is seeking opinions before I escalate. Thank you.
