I am currently looking to purchase this resale hdb unit and partition it as such: https://ibb.co/gYdhmS

This will make it a dual-key apartment and I intend to rent out the 3 bedrooms on the left of the apartment while I stay in the 1 bedroom on the right of the apartment.

Want to check with the gurus here if my plan goes against any rules/regulations by HDB or any other authority?

Hi,

Its a cool idea. There's some alteration required and as long as the renovation permit is granted by hdb and obtained by certified reno firm, and no structural walls are hacked, shouldn't be an issue. Do note the new total occupants rule for 5 room will be reduced to max 6 people from May 2018 onwards, this might affect the rental plans. And yes you are required to stay in the flat when you rent out the rooms during MOP period.

Hi,

(1) It is observed although there are no hacking of structural wall in your plan, but do note that all flats here also consider safety such as fire escape trail and fire hazard issue.
It is also noticed one end of ventilation is totally block out by permanent structure, thus doubt this alternation will be approved by HDB.

(2) Note that you are only allowed to rent out room during MOP, and you must stay in the flat.

(3) Max occupants for 5-rm has reduced from 9 persons to 6 persons including owner. Thus note the changes and assess your plan again.
