Hi, i am asking on behalf of my mum. She is staying in a HDB flat and currently owns a condo which is rented out (bought 10 yrs back). But the HDB flat is rather far away from where we are staying. We wld like her to move closer to us. Under the current ruling, can she sell her HDB flat and buy a resale HDB flat from the market while holding on to her condo?

Hi Chong,

The moment she sell away her existing HDB and buy a resale HDB, it is regulated that she has to dispose her private property within 6 months.

My suggestion is to sell the private property and buy another private property near your place and rent out the HDB instead.

Evening,

With the current ruling, once your mum sells again her HDB unit and purchase another one, she will have to sell her condo, 6 months from key collection of the purchased unit.
Your mum can either sell the condo and purchase another condo near your place, or you can sell your unit and move near her place.
