Hi,
i am a single , divorced guy aged 31. I was staying with my mum and was forced to move out after being physically assaulted by my step father. I have the police reports, protection order from the court and medical reports to show how badly i was abused/assaulted. During weekends , i need to bring my child back to stay with me and spend quality time with him. Currently due to all the unforseen circumstances, i can only rent a room and stay outside. Landlord forbids any 3rd party in the house except myself.
Based on yr valuable experience, do you think i should write to HDB? Will i have a chance to buy a HDB flat with my current situation even though i am 35 and below. Anyone done that before or any of you done it for your clients before?
Pls enlighten me.

Morning,

If you have the custody of your child, you can choose to purchase BTO or resale HDB unit under open scheme. Based on your situation, purchase of resale unit might be of better choice if your financial status is sound.

Hi ks,

Your child only spends time with you over the weekend meaning you do not have legal custody of your child? As per what Mike has mentioned, you are only entitled to purchase a HDB in your given condition should you have the legal custody of your child.

Otherwise, you may wish to look at possibility of terminating your room rental agreement currently if your current landlord refuses to accept your child's stay over during weekends and search for another room rental with this arrangement mentioned upfront, of course this may result in you forfeiting security deposit for your current rental.
