Hi, I am a Singaporean citizen and married to an SPR. My child is an SPR, and my parents hold LTVPs. My husband(SPR) has a condo solely registered under his name. Can I purchase a new HDB or an HDB resale, maybe with my parents or my child? Thank you very much.

Good evening Jacqueline,

I am afraid to inform you that you are not eligible to purchase a resale HDB with your parents or child. As you are married, you have to buy with your husband to form a family nucleus. If you are thinking of BTO, your husband has to sell off his private and wait 30 months before you can apply for one.

Hope my sharing helps in aiding in your enquiry. May I know how can I value add further in your property needs?

Best regards,

YT Tan

Hi Jacqueline,

Unfortunately you wont be able to purchase a new or resale HDB with your parents or child because your husband will need to form a family nucleus with you as you both are married. By buying a HDB with your husband as an owner or an occupier, he will need to sell off his condo within the next 6 months.

Please feel free to contact me so that I can understand your situation better and provide you with further assistance.

Hi
Unfortunately you could not do so without HDB requiring your husband to dispose off his private property. HDB do not allow married couples to own both HDB that has not met its MOP and private property at the same time despite the properties being held under separate name. Do contact me at 93375051  for a free and non obligatory discussion on this.

Hi Ms. Jacqueline,

1) There are a lot of restrictions when applying to purchase an HDB flat.
2) In your situation you have to include your husband in the application because you are married. And you are only eligible for a resale HDB flat.
3) You will notice this when you apply for intent to buy under the HDB resale portal.
4) Your husband will have to sell off his private condo within 6 months upon completion of the HDB purchase.
5) Unless you are thinking to forgo the lifestyle and prefer a larger space to accommodate your family. It will be impossible to keep the condo and at the same time own an HDB flat in your case.
6) To apply for a new HDB (BTO/SBF). You will have to wait out for 30 months after your husband sold his private condo before meeting the eligibility.

Hope the above answer to your main concerns, but if there are more query, please feel free to contact me at 90110636  , or email: ling.ck7@gmail.com if more information is needed.
I'll be glad to assist.

Hi Jacqueline,

You can purchase a HDB resale flat under your sole name, or with your child if he's above age 21. Your parents cannot be the co-owners as they are foreigners. Your husband will be required to be an essential occupier of the flat.

This means that he will have to dispose off his interest in his private condo within 6 months upon the HDB flat purchase. Both you and your husband will also need to serve a 5-year MOP before either of you can purchase another residential property.

You will only be able to apply for a BTO if your husband sells off his private condo, and then wait out a 30-month period. This is provided you meet all the other eligibility conditions, i.e income ceiling etc.

I am experienced and well-versed in both HDB and private transactions. I will be able to assist you in your property plans. Please get in touch with me for a more in-depth discussion.

Should you need require further assistance in matters relating to property, please contact me at my mobile 9748 6305  . I will be happy to assess and share with you the possibilities for you in the current market.

Thank you.

Best regards,
Robbie Chen
