Hi, I am a PR and own a HDB flat. When the purchase of my present flat was under process the new HDB rules about selling private residential properties overseas came in (Aug 2010). I got approval for retaining my private residential property in India from HDB as a special case. Please advise, if i need to approach HDB for their aaproval in case I wish to sell that flat (approved by HDB) and buy a new residential property.

Afternoon,

Your key collection date would have fallen after 29 Aug 2010, hence your MOP is 5 years. Thus you are not eligible to sell your HDB unit at this moment unless you have obtained the necessary approval.

Do note that as PR, you will be liable for 5% ABSD if you were purchase your first property in holding.
