You have to obtain a written agreement with your wife allowing you to apply for BTO and she will no longer be able to form a family nuclues with the said child to purchase a BTO. Alternatively, you may consider applying for 2 room flexi flat located in non ature estate area for singles scheme. As for your question of a comfortable budget on a resale flat, assuming you have already enjoyed 1 housing subsidy and no longer eligible to take up any grant, you can afford a flat in a budget of roughly $300,000 taking into account the information you provided above.
