Hi,

If the housing loan is under your name, you have to be the owner as well. Hence this might not be the best option to meet your objectives.

Hi,

The rules states that the owner need not be the borrower, but the borrower must be the owner.

Hence, your mother can be the owner of the property even though she's not taking loan under her name. But if you were to undertake the loan, you will have to be the owner of the property.

Since you're 28 years old, it is still 7 years away before you can apply for a BTO flat. And if you add in construction period, it will be more than 10 years later to own your first property.

Also, as you mentioned that your income is above $5k, do you know that you are ineligible to apply for BTO under Single Scheme if your income is above $6k? I think chances when you turn 35, your income is highly likely to be above this $6k cap.

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking at, because we're talking about 10 years. You are effectively missing out on a potential property cycle or more.
