Hi Gurus,

We are planning to sell our current private housing and downgrade to HDB flats.

We have 2 children and would like to check if husband + 1 child can purchase a HDB flat (resale) and wife + 1 child purchase another HDB flat (resale) separately? Is this possible?

Hi,

To buy HDB resale or new flat, husband & wife must be the owner if they are both SC, or SC+PR.

The only exception would be SC+Foreigner, where foreigner can only be occupier.

Thus your plan does not work.

Based on HDB rules, if the couple is married, the flat will need to be owned under family nucleus scheme. Therefore you will not be able to place the ownership of the apartment under 1 parent and 1 children.

Unfortunately no, hdb's concept of family nucleus does not work this way and hence owners have to be at least a married couple for your scenario.

If you have plans to stay in one unit and rent out another unit, why not consider dual key condo units? This might help you to achieve your objectives.
