Hi Guru's,

Need some advice... While working overseas, I bought an under construction flat there. Sadly the flat is now stuck in construction cos of legal problem. As I am shifting back to Singapore now, I want to buy a resale flat as I need a house soon.

1. Must I dispose of my overseas flat within 6 months? It's hard cos of legal issues.

2. I don't want the CPF Grant, so there is no 5 year MOP right?

3. If I buy a resale flat WITHOUT GRANT, how soon can I buy a private property?

4. Must I dispose my HDB flat when I buy a private property?

5. Can I rent out Resale flat immediately since I'm buying WITHOUT GRANT.

Thank you very much and appreciate your thoughts.

Resale flat are meant for your own stay during the first five years and hence the mop of five years. You can't rent it out during the first five years of mop.

You can write in to hdb with regards to your special case and they may allow for a special concession with regards to your overseas project. Read More

Afternoon Nair,

To purchase a resale HDB unit, you are required to remove your ownership status within 6 months from date of receiving keys. As for your case, you might need to write in but chances are rather slim.
Purchase of HDB unit, with / without grant or loan, the MOP stays at 5 years. Therefore any rental and resale will only be possible after that. If you are SC owner, you are eligible to keep your HDB upon the purchase of private property.
