I would presume your current employment commitment prevents both of you from coming back to Singapore. Does both of you intend to stay in US for long, or permanently?

Since it's 9 months short, you can choose to write in and appeal your case, along with your company letter, stating your nature of work and possible period of stay. HDB might consider your case and approve the sales. Nothing ventured, nothing gain.

Dear owner,

The only way out for you is to write into HDB for appeal to sell your unit before MOP, with relevant documents to support your appeal, however, it is not confirmed that approval will be given.

Do you intend to stay out of Singapore for good? Otherwise,I see no harm in retaining the asset to earn passive income and still have a roof over head should you decide to return later.
