I'm selling my HDB to upgrade to a resale EC. I need to finance this purchase through the sale of my HDB.

I'm looking for a way to shorten the waiting time for new home to be ready from renovation. Is there any way or practice that allows me to start renovation of the new place before the handover? I would imagine this would require some sort of agreement from the seller that I will complete the purchase or return the EC to them in it's original state.

Hi,
The standard timeline for resale EC completion is 8-10 weeks, subjected to seller’s mutual agreement.. for the buying part may not be able to have early handover, but on your selling part you may want to ask for extension.. do feel free to contact me if you would like to know more on how to time your selling and purchasing correctly so you will have ample time for reno & smooth transition over.. i also have a few newly MOP ECs on hand currently.. Hi,

The typical conveyancing period from the time you exercise the OTP to legal completion is 8 to 12 weeks (subject to mutual agreement). It is not recommended to start renovation earlier than legal completion date because if anything happens in the process the whole completion can be a complicated process and may even fall apart.

Typically we would request for a longer timeline for the hdb sale and from our hdb buyer instead, such that the transaction can be smooth. Happy to share the best approach and walk through the process together so to ensure a smooth transition.

Hi,

There are a few ways to go about this. The easiest and most straight-forward way would be to request for an extension of stay from the Buyer of your HDB flat. With this extension (3 months max) and proper Timeline Planning, you will have ample time to finish up the renovation for your new home.

Do take note that we are approaching the CNY period, a traditionally tricky time to do renovation. You will need proper TImeline planning for both your sale and purchase to be able to ensure a smooth transition.
