Hi Gurus,

I would like to check the eligibility of myself and my fiancé to buy a HDB flat in Singapore.

We are both living in the UK at the moment and planning to get married in Singapore next year. I am a Singapore citizen and my fiancé is Italian but will be applying a PR for him after our wedding while we are in Singapore. We are planning to apply for the SC/PR scheme if possible.

Since we are living oversea, are we eligible to buy the HDB flat in Singapore? We would like to go back to Singapore at some point but not immediately.

Are we also eligible to also take up HDB loan since my fiancé do not have any CPF contribution. I do have a sum of money which I could use it to pay for the first down payment but I have not got any contribution since I left Singapore in Sep 2006. My fiancé will be able to prove all his income but the currency is in British pound.

Dear Esther,

In your case, you can purchase a HDB unit either under the Non-Citizen Spouse Scheme or Public Scheme (If your fiance become a PR)

If the combined gross income is more than $8000, you are not eligible for HDB Loan
