Hi Guru,
My wife and I jointly own a private partment, fully paid up. We hope to rent it out and stay in a HDB flat. Is there any option available?
eg. Is it possible to buy HDB resale flat if I pay in full with cash, no HDB loan or any loan?

PS. we have owned a HDB flat before and sold it after the MOB 10yrs ago.

Hi RCDD,

I am afraid that you have no choice but to sell your private property should you decide to purchase a HDB even if you can fully pay the HDB in cash. Another alternative will be to purchase a resale EC which will be relatively cheaper than purchasing another private condo.

I agree with Geryl. There's no way you can rent out your condo and purchase HDB unit and have both.
You might need to work things out other ways.

Hi RCDD,

You are require to sell off your pte property within 6 months upon purchase of HDB.

You can't have both at the same time.

Hi RCDD,

In the current policy, it's sad that you can't have the best of both worlds.

However, if you are intending to own another property, you can consider a decent unit of condo or apartment of probably a 2-room unit. You can use the rental to finance new unit.
