Hi Guru, I am 41, and currently own a 3-rm HDB resale flat which I bought as a >35 year old single in 2009. Back then I was newly divorced. I have since remarried and we are thinking of selling our resale flat, moving in with my parents, and purchase a BTO 5 rm flat in Sengkang near my parents. Will I be eligible to buy BTO? I've been unemployed the last three months and still looking for a job, while my wife is working and has a salary of around 3k.

Morning Mr Yeo,

For your first marriage, did you purchase any BTO?

Secondly, did you take up any CPF housing grant when you purchase your current resale flat?

As for mortgage, maybe you can try to find out whats the estimated max loan that you can obtain due to your current unemployment on HDB website.

Morning Jeffrey,

Every SC entity are eligible to purchase BTO unit twice. If you have purchased any of your units, either with housing grant or directly from HDB, you would have used u your first BTO option. Hence to apply for BTO again, you will be conspired as second timer.
As for the amount of loan eligible for both of you, it will definitely be lower as financial institute will only work based on your spouse's income.
