Hi experts,
My wife is a Singapore citizen and I am an Australian resident. We have previously lived in Singapore but I have never been an owner or occupant of a HDB flat. We currently live in Australia. We have two children together and she has an elderly mother still living in Singapore.
We plan to return to Singapore in about two years and we would like to buy a resale flat together. We plan on getting PR for our children and I will be applying for an LTVP+. We would like to buy the flat under the Singapore Citizen and Non-resident spouse scheme. Her mother would also be listed as an occupant.
I own our house in Australia, and I plan on selling it before we move and use the proceeds to fund the purchase of the flat.
My question is, if I transfer ownership of the Australian property to a trust now, and then sell the property just prior to moving, would we be eligible for HDB grants? Or would being the beneficiary of that trust still count as ownership to the HDB?
Thanks!
