Hi experts

I currently owned a single room condo. I am planning to purchase a hdb with my partner after marriage.

Will i need to wait for 15months after selling my condo before we can consider purchasing of hdb under the new regulations?

Hi Vincent,

Yes, you will be required to wait out a 15 months period after selling your condo before you are eligible to purchase a resale HDB or wait out 30 months period before your can apply for BTO.

Hi Vincent,

1) Yes, you are restricted by the current new cooling measure implemented on 30th Sep 2022 and you are only eligible to buy a resale flat after the waiting period of 15 months upon the property being sold.
2) If you are renting it out, you may still place the property on the market so that you know that you can buy a resale HDB flat after the waiting period.
3) But if you need to stay in the current condo then it is advisable for you to wait till this restriction is lifted.
4) The Ministries did mention that this measure is not permanent and could be lifted if the HDB price can be stabilized in the next few quarters.
5) The problem is we won't know how long it is going to take for the market to stabilize.

Hi Vincent,

Unfortunately yes, if you are 55 years and below, you will have to wait out 15 months after selling the condo before you are eligible to purchase the next HDB with your partner. By the way, is your partner already 35 years old and Singapore citizen?
