Hi everyone, wanted to seek your advise. And thank you in advance for your help.

I am Single this year just hit 35.

My parents own a HDB currently.

I am thinking if it's possible that the current HDB I remove one of their name and I use one of their name to apply BTO with me? Not sure if I am able to apply up to 5 room for BTO?

Wondering if anyone has done that before.

Good morning,

Sorry to inform you that this move is not possible.

Your parents are married and form a family nucleus so both of them need to be included into a flat purchase application. Thus if you wish to include one of them into a BTO application, the other also must be included. Their existing HDB needs to be sold.

Have you think of applying BTO (2RM flexi) or purchase a resale HDB alone?

Sorry to share the news that this is not possible.

HDB deems both your parents as married entity family nucleus, and both names to be included in any HDB purchase application. This means you have to include both their names in your BTO application, and they have to sell their HDB when the BTO is ready.

Alternatively you can purchase resale HDB under your sole name under the single Singaporean citizen scheme, or apply for new 2-room BTOs in non-mature estates under your sole name as well.

Buying resale HDB has another plus point since your parents unit can be rented out for retirement income.

This is not possible because a married couple is considered as a single entity and therefore not able to own 2 different HDB flats. For your case, you can either purchase a resale HDB alone or purchase a private property which has more upside potential instead.
