Hi Dear Experts,

I am citizen and my husband is SPR. We have property in Malaysia but was now staying by parents.
1) Do we need to sell off the property before we can buy BTO?
2) what will happen if we did not sell / declare of the situation ? What action will be taken by HDB?

Hi Lay Khim,

Yes, you will need to relinquish your ownership for the property in Malaysia, whether or not you need to wait out the 30 months period after selling the property before you can apply for the BTO, you will need to check out with HDB. If you do not relinquish the property, HDB may repossess the unit you have purchased. Perhaps you may wish to submit an appeal with reasons supporting why you are unable to relinquish the property if you wish to keep the property and see if helps.
