Morning Equation,

You are unable to sell off your HDB flat prior to your MOP date unless you are able to appeal on valid grounds to your branch office.

Maybe I know what are the reasons that you are thinking of selling it off before fulfilling the MOP?

Do share with me more information on your situation.

Afternoon,

As HDB have 5 years MOP requirement and also subjected to SSD, having fulfilling 4 years of occupation may make it easier for you to appeal to HDB, based on valid grounds. I have sold unit in Bt Batok, 11 months prior MOP and Strathmore, 7 months prior MOP. Their appeal went through well and good.

Dear Equation,

The regulations are there for a reason at least, therefore if you are expecting a plain straightforward sale of your unit before MOP is met, I would say that it is impossible.

In addition, I do not see too big a difference to sell after MOP given that it is only 4-6months away. For all you know, with the recent reports indicated that resale price index for HDB is still climbing, you maybe able to get a better deal out if you wait out until MOP. Nevertheless, if your reason to sell is genuine, by all means write in to HDB to seek their clearance for sale.
