Asked by
Hi, can anyone enlighten me if it’s eligible to Transfer of Joint Ownership (Widowed Mother and Son) to Single Ownership (Widowed Mother only) due to Son buying a new resale flat with foreign wife.

May I know if HDB allows Son name to be taken out in joint ownership where Widowed Mother is 70 and flat was previously inherited to Son. Can Son buy a new flat due to marriage and if HDB allow the transfer after purchase of resale HDB flat?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

1) The change of ownership is never because there is a plan for one of the parties.
2) It mainly depends on the party whether is eligible and affordable to keep it.

3) The HDB recently had updated their "transfer of ownership" to "Change in ownership":
https://www.hdb.gov.sg/residential/living-in-an-hdb-flat/changing-owners-occupiers/change-in-ownership/change-in-flat-ownership

4) I believed you could find the information needed for your case.
5) HDB policy is in line with government policy that is to encourage marriage and produce more babies for our country.
6) It is advisable to settle this change of ownership before your purchase.
7) Due to the current covid situation, a lot of processes had slow down and could take more time than needed to settle your case.
