HDB will likely compulsorily acquire the flat. You should speak to HDB on this to find out more about the repercussions.

Unfortunately, this is a difficult situation to be in. If you and your partner decide to break up before moving into your new resale flat, here's what might happen:

**1. You will likely have to surrender the flat back to HDB.**

* **Eligibility to purchase a resale flat is tied to being a family nucleus:** This means either a married couple, a parent and child, or siblings. If you and your partner break up, you no longer fulfill this requirement.
* **No exception for resale flats:** Unlike BTO flats, there's no Fiancé/Fiancée scheme for resale flats, so there's no provision for one party to take over the flat if the relationship ends.

**2. Compensation from HDB:**

* **HDB will likely compensate you for the flat,** but the amount is at their discretion and may not cover all your costs.

**3. Other potential implications:**

* **Financial losses:** You might lose money invested in conveyancing fees, stamp duties, and any renovation deposits.
