Hi all, my boyfriend is currently co owner with his mum of their HDB. However our bto will be ready next year December which is 13 months away, and he has to remove his name from the current HDB 6 months before key collection. He has paid 40K so far but hdb has mentioned that with the interest, the mum has to pay him back $50K. The mum doesn’t have much CPF and she doesn’t have much savings. HDB is only willing to loan $4.9K, HDB has mentioned that the only way the mum can do is to sell away the flat. However, she doesn’t want to sell the flat. Even if she sells the flat, where is she gg to stay for the next 9 months? Anybody can advise what can be done? Thank you

No other options unless your boyfriend can cough up the cash himself to refund the amount to his own CPF account. If you are able to finance the purchase without selling the current place, can you check with HDB if the current place can be sold only after completion of the BTO and have the mum move in together with you and your boyfriend?

    The best way I guess is to take a personal loan for this amount to cover the amount needed, and work out an arrangement to slowly repay the amount, since she does not want to sell the flat.
