After MOP you can rent out the whole unit. This is still considered whole unit rental, just that probably the rent amount will be lower than market rate since one of the rooms cannot be accessed.

However, as the MOP of your flat is drawing very near, you could try to appeal to the HDB first and then wait for their response.

Hi Sharifah,

Once the MOP is reached, you may choose to rent out the rooms or rent out the whole unit. In my opinion, it is advisable to rent out the whole unit because you will be able to get a higher rental and also not need to maintain the common area. If you have items that you need to store, you may look for those short term shortage solutions instead.

You can rent out the whole unit excluding your master bedroom, however, the rental price will also be affected. Many tenants will prefer units without such conditions too as they may have concerns on what is being stored in the master bedroom, in terms of safety and etc.
