If you buy a HDB resale flat, you would have to fulfil the Minimum Occupation Period of 5 years, before you can buy private property (both overseas and local).

Hi Ken,

If you buy a resale flat now, you need to fulfil the 5 year MOP before selling. As you are a SPR, you have to sell your flat within 6 months upon completion of the resale private property or TOP of new property. You are not allowed to hold on to your HDB flat if you have bought a private property.

Morning Ken,

As PR, you need to be married to another PR or SC before you are eligible to purchase resale HDB unit. You are also not allowed to own other residential properties within or outside SG. Upon getting the keys for your HDB unit, you are required to fulfill the MOP requirement before you are eligible to purchase the next private property. If you choose to purchase one overseas, you are not required to sell off your HDB unit. But if you choose to purchase one in Singapore, you are required to sell away your HDB unit within 6 months from key collection as you are PR.
