Hey Gurus, Im the 3rd owner and have exceeded the MOP period if i wish to sell or rent my HDB unit. My dad and mum is the 1st and 2nd owner and my dad has contributed approx. $17K with accrued interest to the house. If i remove my dad and mum's name and repay my dad's contribution and include my wife in (since her name was not in the occupier or owner) to form a family nucleus, do we have to wait for another 5 yrs MOP to rent the whole unit? We wish to rent our current unit and using my dad and mum's name instead to purchase a HDB unit paying it in full without taking loan for our family stay instead. Kindly advice. Thanks in advance

Hi MT

Mop is calculated from the day the flat was purchased. This includes any change in ownership by way of transfer subsequently. Hence, you need not wait for another 5 years to satisfy MOP base on your intention,
Of course, your parent may wished to purchase another hdb flat with no loan after removing their names from the existing flat.
