Hello to all, My spouse and myself stay with an unmarried sister who is currently unemployed in EM in Kembangan. We paid 50% of the total HDB loan. Is it wise to sell our current hdb and go for freehold commerical? Also, can my sister get SA on her own?

Hi Sir, as your EM in Kembangan is commanding a high transaction pricing as compared to other EMs, whether to sell or not will depends on your financial status and affordability. As your sister is unemployed at the moment, she may not be able to get the necessary loan to facilitate the purchase of her hdb (assuming shes above 35. If below, she cannot buy). Afternoon, It's always to diversify your investment but not forgetting you basic need. Upon selling your EM, where would the both of you put up? HDB studio apartment are only eligible for SC, aged 55 or greater. Does your sister have enough CPF or cash in hand to pay it off, since she's not working?     Hello Mr Lim Yes my sister is in her late 50's and thus she's qualify for the SA. She has more than $100k in her RA but not so sure she can use them for purchasing the SA. Thanks for the advice.
Hi, I would recommend you to do check with CPF on how much of her RA can be used for the purchase of the SA. Next, also check with HDB on her eligibility on purchase of the SA and will there be any shortfall that needs to be topup in cash. Read More
