I’m currently residing in a HDB resale flat with my parents. They bought it in the 1990s and our unit is fully paid for. My dad is listed as owner while my mom is an occupier.

I am a first timer that would like to apply for bto with my mother. Just wanna check with my mother in her current status will we be considered as first timer as well?

And let’s say if we were to successfully get a unit in any bto exercise. Is there a need to sell my current residence or remove my mother’s name in our current residence?

Hi,

To form the family nucleus to be eligible for BTO application, your dad's name needs to be included as well. Meaning your parents name and your name must be included to be considered as one family nucleus. Yes your parents would have to sell their hdb as well after you collect the keys to the BTO.

I regret to inform you that you do not form a valid family nucleus with your Mother, without your Father being included.

Should you include your Father in the purchase, you will also not be considered a first timer if your parents had already enjoyed the Grants previously.

By including your parents in the HDB purchase, your parents will be required to disposed off their current HDB flats too.
