Hi,

I assume you are referring to 3Gen BTO. Firstly, your MOP of 5 years must have been met before you can apply BTO. For a 3Gen flat, you need to form a 2 generation family nucleus to be eligible, which means your parents need to sell off their flat as well once the key is ready.

You might want to consider resale Jumbo units instead if you wish to keep your parents flat. The size is much bigger and you can choose not to include parents name as well.

Dear Sir,

Unfortunately if you were to apply for a 3G flat, your parents will need to sell their HDB flat within 6 months from keys collection as they will form part of the family nucleus for the new flat.

This is not recommended as I think they are currently depending on the rental generated from the HDB as retirement income tight?

You may want to consider getting an EA or an Executive Mansionette (1 room on the 1st floor) or even a jumbo unit to accommodate the big family and provide everyone with their private space.

In order to be eligible for a 3Gen flat, you will need to form 2 family nucleus. Which means, that both you and your parents will have to sell off your existing flats within 6 months upon collecting the keys to your new 3G flats.
