Yes its possible after your current MOP of 5 years are met, but do note for BTO, 2nd timer chances are slim and it can be tough to secure an unit you want.

The key consideration here is what if you are not shortlisted to select a unit for your BTO application? I have sold my own unit in 2012 and went for BTO application, but have failed on multiple occasions to secure an appointment for flat selection. I finally went for the resale option back in late 2017, slightly more than 5 years after my sale and settled into my current place about 1 year back.

Dear Sir/Mdm,

As long as you have met the 5 years Minimum Occupation Period (MOP) for your current HDB, you will be able to sell it and purchase a BTO. However, you may want to take note that the new BTO will only be ready in a few years time and as a 2nd timer, you will be liable for resale levy.

Going for a BTO therefore may not be the best option. It will be good if I can understand your situation and requirements further before I can advise you better.

You are eligible to sell your existing HDB if you have fulfilled the minimum occupation period.

If you are applying BTO as a second timer, do take note that you will be subject to resale levy.

Mind sharing with me why do you intend to apply for a BTO? If the BTO wont be ready soon, where will you guys stay while waiting for it to be ready?

It is possible to sell your current HDB then buy a BTO. However do note of your existing housing plans. BTO will take around 3 years to complete before you can move in.

Another option will be to apply for BTO first, thereafter sell your current place when you are nearer to collection keys. in this case, you will need to look into ABSD and the loan amount (MSR/TDSR) for the 2nd purchase, as you are deem to be holding 2 properties during the period.

Hi,

Yes, it is possible, provided your combined household monthly income is below $12k.

Do take note that if your current HDB flat is a "subsidized flat", and you're getting a second "subsidized flat", you will incur a resale levy upon the sale of the first flat. Resale levy is to be paid in Cash.

Also, if you were lucky to successfully ballot for a second BTO flat, you will need to find alternative housing for the next few years, while waiting for the flats to be built.

Hence, I'm not sure that given the above, are you still looking at BTO flats?
